Frank Shirley beat out seven other finalist architects selected from around the country to win the 2007 Traditional Building Design Challenge at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston, March 8 to 10. The challenge? To design and hand-draw a new "old" house for a specific lot in Cape Cod's Old King's Highway Historic District with thousands of visitors streaming by. Shirley's winning design will be sold through the contest's sponsor, Restore Media LLC, in its magazines, which include Old House Journal, Clem Labine's Traditional Building, and New Old House.
